OUR AMAZING TRIP TO THAILAND4-13th SEPTEMBER, 2011

Thanks so much for including Di and I as non-bridge players……. Sometimes we just don't realise how little we see of dear friends even when they are nearby. You did an outstanding job with the organisation so I hope all your people are as appreciative as we are - it was just so easy for us not to have to think about organising anything. I just hope you managed to have good fun too while taking such good care of everyone. Denham, eat your heart out!

Thanks again my friend. Look forward to seeing you soon

Hello Denise, It was without doubt a very successful association between the two clubs and all that went with it. Just a little game of cards, but some much fun and enjoyment is gained from it.  For those that never try it, they miss much, or so I believe.

Say Hi to all your gang for me and tell them what a pleasure it was to direct such a knowing group, I wasn't called upon to sort out any discrepancies.  Shows what a good job their teacher has done for them.  Have a safe journey home and who knows one day we may meet up again, I hope so.

Cheers Derek Priest, The Master of The Hub.

Dear Denise

Thanks for all your efforts on my behalf - I did enjoy the trip & could well be interested in further ones. Saw Lenora last night at bridge - seems much better & said she had already had a report from you. (Unfortunately Lenora had to withdraw due to illness). Ed.

Love, Deirdre

Good morning Denise
At last I have downloaded my photos and have attached some for your newsletter taken at the cooking school.

I had a phone call from Fay to say she had a wonderful holiday.  We did seem to hit it off which was excellent I thought.
thanks again for a great time

21st February – OUR VISIT TO CHINA, May 2010

Thank you very much for a great trip.  I had a wonderful time and experienced so much.  I enjoyed seeing a wide variety of areas, the different cultures, the food -  the shows were outstanding, all just great.  A big thank you.

Thank you for organising the tour, Denise.  It was a wonderful holiday in the company of special people.  We appreciated the help from everyone that was so readily forthcoming for us two “old fogies”.  A question:  We brought home a “pee pee boy” to indicate water temperature for Chinese Tea.  Can anyone remember how it works? I do know it needs to be soaked but not the correct sequence of soaking in hot and cold water. I’m sure your next trip will be as successful.

I have just finished about 2 hours on the computer writing a day by day account of my thoughts and feelings for family and friends as I really want to share it all.  It was an amazing experience and we didn’t expect to enjoy it so much.  It was truly wonderful.  We thank you so very much for letting us share this experience with you and the group.

Best wishes, Manfred and Christine

If I can do this trip, anyone can!  It was a marvellous, exciting, fun-filled tour and a pleasure to meet such wonderful travelling companions.  Thank you Travman Tours for putting together such a great trip and also to Denise and Patricia for their help in making it a holiday of a lifetime.

I have for many years read and watched TV programs on China and her history.

I was delighted when Denise offered a trip with the company of people I knew, together with their partners and friends. The trip was to most of the places dreamt about.

I was bombarded with the most amazing range of scenes. Beijing and the enormous volume of people and traffic were forgotten when walking through the Forbidden City and beautiful gardens of the Summer Palace. These would be amazing if built to-day but consider their age – ancient Chinese were a very advanced civilization.

We have all seen Tiananmen Square on TV but actually walking across, seeing Mao’s mausoleum and large painting on the wall and armed soldiers stiffly marching, gave one goose bumps.

The next day seeing and walking on The Great Wall built by the first Emperor to stop invasions, then the Ming Tomb and the Sacred Way.

Every day brought more: the Terracotta Warriors, the Reed Flute Caves, a magic cruise on the Li River, the Net Master Garden. Lastly Shanghai City, the most westernized in China.

There were sights I was not expecting. Literally millions of trees being planted, beautiful flower gardens, very modern buildings and streets, cheek by jowl with Chinese architecture, hundreds of years old.

This trip will stay in my memory for many years - not only China but the good company with whom I shared these experiences.

I learnt to play bridge nearly 20 years ago but at the time was unable to devote the time I wanted to the game with only intermittent opportunities to play.  Three years ago I retired and took up bridge again.  I found “Seriously Social Bridge” and Denise Dodd and have been a regular at the Tuesday session at Kedron ever since.

It’s just what Denise promised when I phoned.  A place where I interact with some wonderful people whilst playing a game I love.  Denise is a great teacher and having the ability to ask her advice about a hand has seen my game (and more importantly, my confidence) improves steadily over time.  Whether you are a novice or experienced player, “Seriously Social Bridge” is a great way to enjoy bridge.

About 3 years ago after experiencing a rough path of life, I decided I needed a new interest.  Some friends had taught me bridge so finding a partner and where to play was the next idea.  I saw Denise’s ad in the Yellow pages.  Contacting her was one of my better ideas.  She introduced me to different partners until I found someone who was happy to play with me and I with her.  Seriously Social and Denise has introduced me to some great people, holidays and opened up many more avenues of interest for me.

I recommend anyone who is thinking of playing or learning bridge to contact Denise.

A little under 2 years ago I answered an advertisement in the local paper advertising bridge lessons for beginners.  I went along to the lessons tentatively - not knowing anything about bridge and having no idea what to expect.  As soon as we walked into the room, Denise made all of us welcome.

Her teaching skills are excellent and she is switched onto her students, adjusting her level of assistance depending on the level of her students. The lessons were wonderfully sequenced and logical.  Each lesson includes set practice hands with close follow-up by Denise.

Her communication skills are extraordinary- both orally and in the written form.  Her explanations in games and lessons are concise, and her newsletters and website are easily negotiated and attractive.  Players from beginners to advance, find her approachable and helpful, always willing to assist and coach players no matter what their level.

Her commitment to bridge both as an advanced player and teacher shows through her lessons and her role in supervised play.  She obviously loves the game and wants to share her enthusiasm with as many people as she can.

Anyone looking to learn a new skill have fun and meet new people – bridge is for you and learning it with Denise just tops off the whole experience.

“When you walk with me do not walk behind me for I may not always lead, do not walk in front of me for I may not always follow, walk beside me and be my friend.”

Thank you for that wonderful quotation.  I know Seriously Social Bridge is your business but I think you go beyond that, so a big thank you.    I love my bridge games at Kedron.
