Audrey Grant  Bridge Educator

Books and Software

Audrey Grant visited Australia several years ago and after attending her classes it changed the way I thought about teaching. Her "hands-on" style reflected my own thoughts about teaching Bridge.  I applauded her lack of white boards and “gobbledygook”.  Her method has proven to be the most advanced teaching technique for introducing people to Bridge.

Audrey is a Canadian educator  who refers to herself as an "authority on simplicity." She works with the best technicians in the world to make sure the material presented to the reader is up-to-date and authentic. Through her books, you’ll be taken into the magical world of bridge.

“Bridge Basics 1 – An Introduction”

Winner of the American Bridge Teachers “Book of the Year Award”.  I use this text for all my beginner classes.  It is comprehensive, easy to read and covers the fundamentals of the three aspects of the game… bidding, play and defense.  Matching colour coded cards available.

“Bridge Basics 2 – Competitive Bidding”

The second in Audrey’s “Better Bridge Series”.  I use this book for workshops for the advancing/intermediate player.  It has a natural flow on from the first text, and covers the concepts needed when both sides are bidding for the contract. Matching colour coded cards available.

BridgeataGlanceWebReady.gif“Bridge at a Glance” $19.95 (includes postage).

Without a doubt the most inspired item she has devised to date. This 32-page booklet works in conjunction with her books and contains most responses to any Standard  bid in an easy to follow format. A sophisticated “cheat sheet”!  To quote the words of Dennis Scott, Vice-President, American Bridge Teachers’ Association:

I love the idea of showing the bidding diagram and then the Bidding Ladder with the meaning of all the bids. Great idea! This is the most comprehensive, easy to understand description of bridge for an advancing player that I have seen. There’s nothing like it on the market.  It’s your best work yet.”

I have copies of these two Audrey Grant books@ $24.95 (includes postage).

Matching colour coded cards available.

My trusted adviser, Paul Lavings,  www.postfree.cc  recommends this hugely popular new book “Planning the Play…”  as Brilliant!  I have been listening to, and buying books from Paul for 30 years.   Bridge Master 2000 and Bridge Baron 20 are the ultimate in colourful, user-friendly bridge software for the novice to the experienced player.  Bridge Baron 20 also available for Macs.
