document containing information and the entry form. Convened by Denise Dodd and Directed by Trevor
Strickland, this is an annual QBA sponsored Red Masterpoint event now
approaching its 6th year.
Originally devised for bridge players who remain in The successful format, usually over 5 days
and nights, has workshops by Paul Lavings, six sessions of walk-in pairs,
culminating in a “Teams-of-Three” for novices on the final day. Although held at the Brisbane Bridge
Centre, Annerley, the event is “non-denominational” and has a wide following
from other clubs. Paul, a Sydneysider, is a well known
teacher, player and writer and holds the world record for representing There are lots of prizes, including one
for each session as well as overall prizes for the winners (usually the pair
with the best FOUR scores from the SIX sessions) the idea being that you can
play in as few or as many sessions as you like. The Teams-of-Three is a particularly
popular event as it is for novices only, who are allocated an expert captain
by ballot to play on the day. This
gives the novice an opportunity to gain confidence by playing with an
experienced player in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, as well as meeting
others from various places. QBA President, Keith McDonald is a big
